BALTIMORE, Md. (February 29, 2020)-Morgan State's women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 non-conference decision to Binghamton on Saturday afternoon at the Central Pa. Tennis Center in South Williamsport, Pa. The loss was the fourth straight for the Lady Bears, who fell to 2-7 on the season.
Morgan State's No. 1 doubles tandem of
Asmara Rose and
Averiana Mitchell earned a 6-4 victory over the Bearcats team of Michelle Eisenberg and Samara Eisenberg. Binghamton would win the remaining two matches to take earn the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Binghamton would win the top four singles matches to put the match away. The Lady Bears' two victories came from freshmen
Anabel Torrente and
Stefania Moysiadi at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Torrente needed three sets to defeat Jamie Lau of Binghamton, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-0) at the No. 5 spot and Moysiadi recorded a straight sets win over Kyra Bergmann 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6.
The Lady Bears will return home on Sunday, March 1 for a non-conference match against La Salle at 7 p.m. at the Twin Lakes Racquet Club.
