LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Feb. 23, 2020)-The Morgan State Lady Bears concluded the 2020 Diamond 9 Citrus Classic with a tough 6-3 loss to Clemson in Sunday's finale at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Morgan State (2-7) ended the tournament on a three-game losing skid after going 2-3 for the weekend. Clemson improved to 10-7 on the season after going 3-2 for the weekend.

Inside The Numbers
- Clemson recorded six runs on 11 hits and had five RBI.
- Clemson's Alia Logoleo went 3-for-4 with two runs. Marissa Guimbarda and MK Bonamy each went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI. Cammy Pereira finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.
- Morgan State totaled three runs on five hits and two RBI.
- Amy Pacheco led the Lady Bears with a 2-for-3 performance with 2 RBI. Cayla Sweazie was 1-for-2 with a run and a walk. Ashley Shanks and Haylee Bobos each went 1-for-3 for Morgan State's other two hits.
- The Tigers left nine runners on base. Morgan State left five.
- Valerie Cagle improved to 5-6 on the season with the win. She pitched a complete game and recorded a game-high eight strikeouts with one walk.
- Stephanie Rundlett (1-5) pitched six innings and struck out three batters and walked three. Mikayla Barnard pitched one inning of relief and surrendered just one hit and two strikeouts.Â
How It Happened:
- Clemson broke up a scoreless game in the fifth inning when Cammy Pereira singled through the left side to score Alia Logoleo for a 1-0 lead.
- Morgan State evened the score at 1-1 when Katariina Delph reached on a fielding error by the second baseman, allowing Kyley Fijalkowski to score.
- The Tigers added three more runs in the top half of the sixth inning to extend their lead to 4-1. MK Bonamy put Clemson ahead, 2-1 when she scored on a throwing error on Morgan State. A sacrifice fly hit to right field by JoJo Hyatt scored Carlee Shannon increasing the lead to 3-1. Pereira then singled up the middle to score Logoleo for the 4-1 lead.
- Morgan State responded in the bottom of the sixth, when Amy Pacheco hit a two-run double to right centerfield to drive in Ellen Ebbers and Cayla Sweazie to cut the deficit to 4-3.
- Clemson put the game away with two runs in the seventh inning to take a 6-3 advantage. Marissa Guimbarda doubled to score Valerie Cagle and Bonamy singled to right field to score Guimbarda for the 6-3 win.Â
Up Next: Morgan State will head to the Nation's Capital next weekend to take part in the Colonial Classic (Feb. 29-Mar. 1), hosted by George Washngton. The Lady Bears will square off against Princeton and George Washington on Saturday, before closing out the tournament against Princeton and Georgetown on Sunday.
