BALTIMORE, Md. (April 2, 2019)-The Lady Bears got a 4-2 win on Tuesday against Delaware State in their second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division match at the MSU Tennis Courts.
Morgan State (4-11, 2-0 MEAC) would start by losing the doubles point. They lost at the No.3 position by default and would lose at No.2 doubles, 6-4 to give the Hornets the 1-0 lead.
Delaware State (4-4, 1-2 MEAC), which had its season-long three-match winning streak snapped, would start leading 2-0 going into the singe play, thanks to a win by default at No. 6 singles. Despite the lead the Lady Bears would fight their way back.
Starting with
Asmara Rose, who would win 6-0, 6-0 at No.3. She would be quickly joined by
Jourdan Wallace, who won 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 4 position.
Peggy Rooke would also win her singles match at No.2. Senior
Oriane Yehouenou would give the fourth point and clinched for the Lady Bears, winning 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 5 position.
The Lady Bears will be back in action this weekend for two
MEAC matches at home. Morgan State will first take on Howard on Saturday, April 6 at 2 p.m. and then on Sunday at 2 p.m. the team will square off against Norfolk State for Senior Day.
