BALTIMORE, Md. (March 3, 2019)- For the first time in eight seasons, the Morgan State women's basketball team will close out the regular season against its crosstown rivals, the Coppin State Eagles, when the two meet for Round 2 of the annual Battle of Baltimore: "East vs. West" game on Thursday, March 7 at 5:30 p.m. at Hill Field House. The contest will stream live on morganstatebears.com. The last time the two programs met in the regular season finale was March 3, 2011, a 74-58 victory by the host Eagles. Thursday's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown will mark 'Senior Night' for the Lady Bears' Naomi Bolasingh, Kayla Horn and Adre'onia Coleman, who will be honored prior to the game.

BEAR CLAWS: Morgan State (9-20, 7-8 MEAC) ended a four-game losing skid, by stunning Maryland Eastern Shore with a 57-53 victory on Monday. The win was the fourth straight for the Lady Bears in Princess Anne. Adre'onia Coleman led Morgan State with a game-high 19 points, while Naomi Bolasingh added 13 points in the win. Coleman has paced the Lady Bears this season, averaging 16.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Ashia McCalla is adding 9.7 points, while Jihayah Chavis is contributing 9.1 points and leads the team in both assists (70) and steals (62).

BIRD SEEDS: Coppin State (4-23, 4-11 MEAC), which has struggled this season, enters the contest riding a season-long two-game winning streak, after defeating Norfolk State on the road, 54-51 in its last outing (3/2).  Jalynda Salley scored a game-high 17 points and Brook Fields scored 15 points and had a game-high five assists. Kaiya Coleman came off the bench to score 11 points and had a game-high seven rebounds. Fields leads the Eagles with 17.3 points per game and has a team-best 105 assists. Chance Graham is averaging a double-double with 15.6 points and 11.8 rebounds a game, while adding a team-leading 47 steals and 33 blocks.

MSU VS. CSU SERIES NOTES: Coppin State leads the all-time series, 41-37. Morgan State has won three straight over the Eagles, including a 74-57 victory earlier this season at Coppin State (2/2).

NEXT UP: Morgan State will turn its attention to winning the program's first MEAC championship next week, as they prepare for the 2019 MEAC Tournament (March 11-16) at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va. The Lady Bears will enter the tournament as the No. 7 seed.

SAYING GOODBYE: Morgan State will say goodbye to three seniors at the conclusion of the season. Two-year members Naomi Bolasingh, Adre'onia Coleman and Kayla Horn, who all came to Morgan State as juniors, will be honored on 'Senior Night' when they play their final home game at Hill Field House on March 7, 2019 against crosstown rival Coppin State at 5:30 p.m.

MAKE IT A DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Adre'onia Coleman picked up her ninth double-double of the season in the loss at Delaware State (3/3). Coleman finished with 10 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. The Baltimore native would also add three steals.

McCALLA TIES CAREER-HIGH: Freshman Ashia McCalla matched her career high of 18 points in the loss at Delaware State (3/2). McCalla previously scored 18 points in a win against Florida A&M (1/28).

CHAVIS MOVES INTO 9TH: Junior Jihayah Chavis recorded two steals at Maryland Eastern Shore (3/4) to pass former Lady Bear Karla Warfield (150 steals from 1993-96, 97) for ninth all-time at Morgan State in steals with 151. Chavis is now two steals away from passing former Lady Bear Karla Warfield (150 steals from 1993-96, 97) for ninth.

DAVIS RETURNS TO THE HORNETS NEST: Morgan State head coach Ed Davis made his third trip back to Memorial Hall (3/2), as an opposing head coach. Davis, who once patrolled the sideline for 12 seasons as the head coach of Delaware State, would suffer his second consecutive loss in six trips (4-2) to Memorial Hall since joining Morgan State as an assistant during the 2012-13 season. The Lady Bears have a 7-4 all-time record against Delaware State since Davis joined Morgan State's staff.
