Morgan State Comes Up Short At Delaware State, 62-57

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 2, 2019)-NaJai Pollard shot 10-of-16 from the floor to score a game-high 28 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds to lead host Delaware State to a 62-57 victory over Morgan State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game at Memorial Hall.

Lanayjha Ashe scored 10 points and Shonny Regalado came off the bench to score 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting to help the Hornets win their third straight over Morgan State.

Delaware State improved to 6-19 overall 4-10 in the MEAC, while Morgan State (8-20, 6-8 MEAC), which turned the ball over 23 times, dropped its fourth straight.

Ashia McCalla shot 6-of-12 and connected on 3-of-5 from three-point range to tie a career-high 18 point to lead the Lady Bears. Adre'onia Coleman recorded her ninth double-double of the season, finishing with 10 points and pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds. Naomi Bolasingh added 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including 2-of-4 from three-point range.

Delaware State, which held a 34-38 halftime advantage, built its largest lead of the game of 12 points (54-42) with 5:39 left in the game, following a jumper by Pollard.

Morgan State would not go away, as the guests used a 13-4 run to pull within three-points at 58-55, when McCalla knocked down a three-pointer from the right wing to bring the Lady Bears with 41 seconds left in the game.

The Hornets would end the game by converting 4-of-6 free throw attempts for the victory. Delaware State finished the game shooting 19-of-29 (65.5) from the charity stripe.

Morgan State will close out its regular season road schedule on Monday, March 4, when it heads to Princess Anne, Md. to face the Hawks of Maryland Eastern Shore. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m. at the Hytche Athletic Center.
