Women’s Bowling Begins Season With 7-2 Mark At Mount Shootout

BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 23, 2018)-The Morgan State bowling team began the 2018-19 campaign on the road competing in the Mount Shootout and finished 7-2 over the weekend to place sixth. The event was held at the Sunshine Lanes in Waynesboro, Pa.

On Saturday, the Lady Bears went 4-1 in the traditional games. Morgan State began the day winning its first three contests, defeating Medaille (860-794), Roberts Wesleyan (953-735) and Wilmington (921-890). Morgan State would then fall to No. 24th-ranked Kutztown (978-879), before closing out the day with a win over Felician (833-821).

On Sunday, the Lady Bears went 2-0 in Baker games play with victories over Wilmington (866-751) and New Jersey City (856-794). Morgan State would enter the championship bracket play – baker match best-of-seven, in fifth-place. The first match-up would come against Felician and the Lady Bears would earn a 4-3 victory. Morgan State then fell to Roberts Wesleyan by a score of 2-4 in the fifth-place match.

Morgan State was led by Diamond Hunter, who finished with a total pinfall of 937, for an average of 187.4. Hunter rolled a high game of 212 in a win over Medaille. Katherine Clouse totaled 910 pins and had an average of 182. Clouse would have a high game of 187 against Medaille. Kiersten Bateman led all Lady Bears with a high game of 220 against Roberts Wesleyan.

The Lady Bears return to action on at the Virginia Union Invitational (Nov. 2-4) in Richmond, Va.
