BALTIMORE, Md. --  Damani Applewhite had 18 points and 12 rebounds, Patrell Rogers added 15 points and nine rebounds with five assists and South Carolina State beat Morgan State 74-59 on Monday night. 

The Bears, who suffered its first home loss of the season, fall to 8-13 on the season and 4-4 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play.

James Richardson chipped in 10 points for South Carolina State (8-15, 4-4). The Bulldogs made 47 percent of their shots and hit 17 of 25 free throws.

South Carolina State trailed 33-32 at the break but a breakaway dunk by Richardson gave the Bulldogs a 65-47 lead with less than five minutes to go. The Bears were outscored 42-26 after halftime.

Tiwian Kendley scored 21 points for Morgan State. Phillip Carr collected his 11th double-double of the season by finishing with 10 points, on 4-of-15 shooting, and 12 rebounds. Martez Cameron added 11 points with five assists.

The Bears finished shooting 32.8-percent (22-of-67) with a 4-of-17 mark from beyond the arc.

The Bulldogs held a 42-41 advantage on the glass and outscored the Bears inside the paint by a 36-22 margin.

The game was tied eight times and there were seven lead changes.

Morgan State, who fell to 6-1 at home this season, dropped its first home game since losing to Delaware State at Hill Field House on Feb. 11, 2017.
