MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Dec. 18, 2017)-West Virginia scored the game's first eight points, held a 19-4 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, as the 10th-ranked Mountaineers defeated Morgan State, 84-41 on Monday at the WVU Coliseum.

West Virginia (11-0) remained unbeaten on the season and extended its non-conference winning streak to 38 straight inside the WVU Coliseum. The Mountaineers also evened up the all-time series against Morgan State at 1-1, while improving to 19-1 all-time against members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

Morgan State fell to 6-5 on the season with the loss and has now dropped two straight games after winning a season-best four in a row.

Teana Muldrow scored a game-high 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting and added a game-high four steals, a game-high three blocked shots, four assists and four rebounds to lead the Mountaineers. Katrina Pardee scored 21 points, while knocking down 5-of-7 three-pointers and Naomi Davenport finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and a game-high six assists. Â

After a season-long 12-day layoff since its last game, the Morgan State came out flat scoring a season-low four points, while being held to 2-of-13 shooting (15.4 percent) in the first quarter.

The host Mountaineers however, connected on 7-of-10 shooting (70 percent) from the floor, including 2-for-2 from three-point range.

A three-pointer by Davenport with 2:50 left in the second quarter capped off a 31-0 run by the host Mountaineers and gave West Virginia a 43-4 cushion.
Tykyrah Williams ended the run with a jumper and added the free throw to complete a three-point play and cut the deficit to 43-7 with 2:21 left. Williams' three-point play would end a 10 minute 26 second scoring drought for the Lady Bears, which began the last 2:47 of the first quarter.

West Virginia would hold a 45-12 halftime advantage.

The Lady Bears would shoot 63 percent (7-of-11) in the third quarter, including 4-of-5 (80 percent) from the three-point arc to outscore the Mountaineers, 19-18. Naomi Bolansingh would hit a trey at the 9:10 mark of the fourth quarter to bring Morgan State within 65-34, but West Virginia countered with a 15-0 spurt to extend the Mountaineers' lead to 45 points at 80-35 with 4:14 left in the contest.

Morgan State would be led by Williams, who finished with 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. Williams would also lead the team with a game-high eight rebounds.

The Lady Bears will conclude their road trip when they travel to Fort Collins, Colo. to take on the Colorado State Rams on Thursday, Dec. 21 at 12 p.m. MST. This will be the second meeting between the two teams. Colorado State won the first meeting, 54-36 in the opening round of the Navy Classic on Nov. 27, 2015.
