Bears Drop Season-Opener at Binghamton, 76-59

VESLEY, N.Y. – J.C. Show and Willie Rodriguez scored 14 points each and Binghamton cruised to a 76-59 win over Morgan State in the season opener for both teams Friday night at Dr. Bai Lee Court at the Events Center. 
 
Binghamton (1-0) shot 45.6 percent from the field and had four players in double figures, including Thomas Bruce with 14 rebounds to go with his 14 points and four blocks. Fard Muhammad had 11 points.
 
Show hit 3 of 9 from the field and finished 6 of 6 from the free throw line.

Binghamton took control with a 20-2 run to make it 49-32 to open the second half. Show hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 12 points in the run.  Back to back baskets by sophomore Stanley Davis helped pull the Bears to within 11 points, trailing 49-38 with 12:21 remaining.  Davis finished with a career-high 13 points (6-8 FG).
 
A 3-pointer by Muhammad gave Binghamton its largest lead of the night at 64-44 at the 7:15 mark and the Bearcats cruised to the win.
 
Morgan State (0-1) held a 30-29 halftime lead. 

Senior Phillip Carr led the Bears with 14 points, while junior Martez Cameron and freshman LaPri McCray-Pace added nine points apiece.
 
The Bears shot 34 percent (22-65 FG) from the field, including 4 of 15 from 3-point territory and finished with 18 turnovers.
 
Binghamton shot 54 percent in the second half and put 47 points on the board. They hit 10-of-21 from beyond the arc.
