BALTIMORE, Md. (Jan. 30, 2017)-The Lady Bears finally return home following three straight road games to conclude a home-and-home series against Florida A&M on Monday, Jan. 30. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. at Hill Field House. The contest will be the first leg of a three-game homestand for the Lady Bears. MSU dropped the first meeting against the Rattlers, 51-48 in Tallahassee, Fla. (1/9).

BEAR CLAWS: Morgan State (2-18, 0-7 MEAC), still searching for its first MEAC victory of the season, dropped a 61-45 decision against crosstown rival Coppin State on Saturday. The loss was the third straight against Coppin State.
Braennan Farrar led the Lady Bears with 10 points and added three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Tykyrah Williams scored eight points and
Jihayah Chavis added seven points and had a team-high three assists.
Jayde Duncan led Morgan with five rebounds. The Lady Bears have been paced by Farrar (12.7) and Williams (10.3), who are both averaging double figures in scoring. Williams also leads the team in rebounding (5.7)

SNAKE VENOM: Florida A&M (5-15, 3-4 MEAC) has won its last two contests, including a 65-56 victory at Delaware State on Saturday. Dawn King came off the bench and scored a team-high 13 points, while Cedricka Sweeting finished with 12 points. Shakerrya Morrison had a game-high five steals and fell shy of a double-double with nine points and a team-high nine rebounds. The Rattlers outrebounded Delaware State, 55-35. FAMU has been led by Florence Ouattara, who is averaging 8.1 points per game and Morrison, who is pulling down a team-high 8.4 boards per game to go with 8.0 points.  Â

MSU VS. FAMU SERIES NOTES: Morgan State has won nine of the last 12 meetings against the Rattlers, but Florida A&M leads the all-time series, 34-13. FAMU won this season's earlier meeting, 51-48 in Tallahassee, Fla. (1/9), thus ending a two-game losing skid to Morgan.

NEXT UP: The Lady Bears will continue their three-game homestand with a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match-up against North Carolina Central on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. at Hill Field House. The game will mark the start of the second half of the MEAC season for the Lady Bears.

MOVING UP: Braennan Farrar scored 10 points in the loss at Coppin State (1/28), giving her 1,083 points for her career. Farrar, who ranks 11th all-time at Morgan State, is now 45 points away from passing Carla Thomas (1,117 points from 1984-87) for 10th-place.

IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME: Morgan State has dropped its last 10 MEAC regular season contests, dating back to the last three games from the 2015-16 season. Morgan State's last regular season MEAC victory was a 66-55 victory at home over North Carolina Central (2/20/16).

SPIRITUAL REBOOT: Following Sunday morning's practice (1/22), the Lady Bears along with their coaching and support staffs spent the rest of the morning attending the church services at North Orangeburg United Methodist Church.

LADY BEARS ASSIST ORANGEBURG COMMUNITY: During the Lady Bears' trip to Orangeburg, SC (1/22-23), the team took some time out to collect and donate toiletries to go towards helping a total of 10 families get back on their feet after they were recently displaced when the Roosevelt Gardens apartment complex caught fire a week earlier in the Orangeburg area.
NATIONAL RANKINGS: Morgan State currently ranks 34th in the nation in turnover margin at 4.60 per game. Louisville sits ahead of the Lady Bears at 33rd at 4.74 and Maryland ranks 35th at 4.57. Lamar leads the nation at 9.53 per contest. Morgan State is also 54th in the nation in scoring defense, holding its opponents to 58.7 points per outing.

12 STRAIGHT AND COUNTING: The Lady Bears' current losing streak reached a season-long 12 games, following their 61-45 loss at Coppin State (1/28). The streak surpasses the five-game losing skid Morgan State had earlier in the season and is the longest losing skid for the program since the 2013-14 squad lost 15 consecutive games.

IT TAKES A THEIF: The Lady Bears have recorded 220 steals as a team in 20 games played thus far. Last season Morgan State recorded 249 steals in 30 games. Breannan Farrar leads the way with a team-best 49, while
Tykyrah Williams has 31 steals.
Chelsea Mitchell and
Jihayah Chavis are adding 28 and 25 steals, respectively.

FARRAR JOINS THE 1,000-POINT CLUB: Braennan Farrar became the 14th member in program history to join the 1,000-point club at Morgan State. Farrar, who entered the Richmond game (12/27) needing nine points to reach the plateau, scored her ninth and final point of the game on a layup at the 7:27 mark in the third quarter. She now has 1,073 points for her career.
