Kendley Earns Second MEAC Player of the Week

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Morgan State guard Tiwian Kendley was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC)  co-men's basketball player of the week, announced by the conference office Monday. It marks the second time that Kendley has been named player of the week.

Patrick Cole of North Carolina Central joined Kendley as the co-player of the week.

Kendley led the Bears with a season-high 40 points in an 85-82 2OT victory against Manhattan last Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Hill Field House. The junior connected on 12-of-23 from the field and grabbed nine rebounds in 45 minutes of action against the Jaspers. He also shot 84 percent (11-of-13) from the free throw line.

Kendley became just the fourth Bear to hit the 40-point benchmark in Morgan State history. The last time a MSU student-athlete scored 40-plus points was on December 10, 1976 when Eric "The Pencil" Evans scored 46 points with 15 rebounds against C.W. Post (now known as LIU Post).

The Harlem (N.Y.) native is leading the conference by averaging 22.9 points per game and currently ranks No. 12 in scoring in the nation. He's also averaging 6.1 rebounds and is shooting a league-best 87 percent from the free throw line, while averaging 32.4 minutes per contest.  The 6-foot-5 guard has scored in double-figures in every game, with five games of 20 or more points and three game with nine or more rebounds.

Kendley and the Bears return to action when they head to University Park, Pennsylvania to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions on Wednesday, December 21. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Bryce Jordan Center and will be streamed live on Big Ten Network Plus.
