Braennan Farrar scored a game-high 14 points and
Tykyrah Williams added 11, but it wasn't enough for Morgan State, which dropped its fourth straight game, following a 62-43 loss at Marshall on Wednesday afternoon at the Cam Henderson Center.

The loss was the second for Morgan State to Marshall in as many tries. The Lady Bears fell to 1-5 on the season, while the Thundering Herd improved to 5-1.

For nearly 18 minutes of the first half, Morgan State had the Thundering Herd right where it wanted them. But it would be the final 1:50 of the half, which would do Morgan State in.

After trailing 17-11 after the first quarter, Morgan State began the second quarter with a 6-0 run to even the score at 17 all after back-to-back layups by Farrar with 5:52 remaining in the period. Marshall would score its first point of the quarter on two free throws by from Taylor Porter at the 5:42 mark to trigger a 5-0 Marshall run with all the points coming from the free throw line. The Lady Bears would end the run with a jumper by Farrar with 2:13 to play, making it a 22-19 Marshall lead. That's when the game would get away from the Lady Bears.

Porter would respond with a three-pointer at the 1:53 mark, which would be the Thundering Herd's first field goal of the quarter, giving the hosts a 25-19 lead. McKenzie Akers drained another three-pointer to increase the lead to 28-19. Morgan State's
Jayde Duncan stopped the bleeding with a layup with 38 seconds left, but Porter knocked down another trey with 3.7 left in the period. The Lady Bears would turn the ball over on the inbound pass and Marshall's Shayna Gore appeared to have hit another potential three-pointer for the Thundering Herd at the buzzer. The shot would be reviewed and later waived off and Marshall's lead stayed at 31-21 at the half.

Marshall began the third with a three-pointer by Khadaijia Brooks to increase the lead to 34-21 with 7:47 to play in the period. The Thundering Herd would go on a 14-7 run over the next five minutes to up their cushion to 48-28 with 2:51 remaining and led 49-30 after three quarters.

Both teams would score 13 points apiece in the fourth quarter, as Morgan State was unable to make any serious run to cut down the deficit. Marshall held its largest lead of the game at 22 points (56-34) on a three-pointer by Brooks with 6:17 left in the fourth quarter.

Morgan State shot 27.8 percent (15-of-54) for the game and was just 2-of-17 (11.8 percent) from the three-point arc. The Thundering Herd finished 18-of-40 (45 percent) and knocked down 10-of-21 (47.6 percent) from three-point range.

The Lady Bears were 11-of-16 (68.8 percent) from the charity stripe, while Marshall shot 53 percent (16-of-30) for the game.

The guests forced 17 turnovers out of Marshall and recorded 10 steals. Williams led the Lady bears with a game-high four steals. Morgan State held a 15-7 advantage in points off turnovers and outscored the taller Thundering Herd, 20-16 in the paint.

The Thundering Herd were led by Brooks and Porter, who each scored 13 points. Talequia Hamilton and Gore each added nine points. Kiana Evans pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

The Lady Bears will now travel to Dayton, Ohio to take on the Dayton Flyers on Friday, Dec. 2. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at UD Arena.
