TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Travann Warren and Isaiah Omoregie scored 15 points apiece to help Florida A&M rally to beat Morgan State 72-65 on Saturday night at the Al Lawson Center.
Malcom Bernard added 12 points and a game-high eight assists with five steals for Florida A&M (6-12, 2-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).
Morgan State led the Rattlers 30-27 at halftime.
The Bears held its largest lead of the night when freshman guard
Antonio Gillespie nailed a 3-pointer to give his team a 47-39 lead with 13:09 remaining. The Rattlers responded with a 13-4 run over a 7-minute stretch. Craig Bowman hit a 3 to give FAMU a 52-51 advantage, marking their first lead since 23-21 at the 6:16 mark of the first half.
The lead changed four times down the stretch.
Phillip Carr scored on a jumper with 2:45 remaining to put the Bears up 59-58. The Rattlers would regain the lead (60-59) on a layup by Omoregie with 1:32 left to go. FAMU would go on to outscore the Bears 12-6 in the final moments, including 10-for-10 from the free throw line, to seal the win.
Cedric Blossom led the Bears with 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting, and
Rasean Simpson added 14 points with a game-high eight rebounds and four steals.
Phillip Carr chipped in nine points.
Morgan State shot 46 percent from the floor, but shot just 10-of-20 (50 percent) from the free throw line. The Rattlers shot 74 percent (17-23 FT) from the line and shot 45 percent from the field.
FAMU scored 21 points off of a season-high 18 turnovers by the Bears.
