Farrar’s Career-High 30 Points And Carrington’s 22, Too Much For UMES; Lady Bears Win 65-50

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (March 5, 2015)-Morgan State freshman guard Braennan Farrar tallied a career-high 30 points, including a career-high seven three-pointers, as the visiting Lady Bears concluded the regular season with a 65-50 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) victory over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) on Thursday afternoon at the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.
 
Farrar, who set a new career high in scoring in each of the final three games of the regular season, also knocked down a career-high seven three-pointers, which ranks second on the Morgan State single-game charts. The St. Louis, Mo. native also added four rebounds, a game-high four assists and had a game-high three steals.
 
Farrar had plenty of help from her back court mate, senior guard Tracey Carrington. Carrington knocked down a career-best four three-pointers to finish with 22 points, as the guard tandem accounted for all 11 Morgan State three-pointers and combined for 52 points to outscore the entire UMES team.
 
UMES (11-16, 8-8 MEAC) was led by its senior Jessica Long, who totaled a team-high 17 points in her final home game of her caeer. TeAmber Burke and Mariah McCoy each added eight points. Taryana Kelly grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for the Lady Hawks.
 
Morgan State (11-18, 8-8 MEAC) got a game-high 10 rebounds each from Dinah Jones and Simone Sampson, to help the Lady Bears hold a slim 43-42 rebounding advantage over UMES.
 
The Lady Bears, who swept the season series against UMES for the first time since 2007, will now await the result of the South Carolina State at Bethune-Cookman contest later today. A Bethune-Cookman win will result in Morgan State, which now sits in seventh-place, securing the sixth seed for upcoming MEAC Tournament in Norfolk, Va.
