Lady Bears Eliminated On Day 2 Of MEAC Bowling Championship

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (March 21, 2015)-The 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference bowling championship came to an end for the Morgan State Lady Bears, as they were eliminated on Day 2 of the championship at the AMF Chesapeake Lanes.

 

The Lady Bears, who entered Saturday's best-of-seven Baker series as the No. 7 seed, dropped a hard fought match to No. 2 North Carolina A&T by a score of 4-3. Looking to stay alive in the double elimination format, Morgan State faced No. 3 Delaware State in the losers' bracket and fell 4-1.

 

Two-time defending MEAC Tournament champion and top-seeded Maryland Eastern Shore, bowled its way into the championship match, defeating Florida A&M (4-2) and Bethune-Cookman (4-0 and 4-2) to grab a spot into the title match.

 

The Lady Hawks will face No. 6 Norfolk State in Sunday's final. The Spartans rolled their way into the final by upsetting Delaware State (4-1) in the opening round, before knocking off North Carolina A&T (4-2) in the second round of the winner's bracket. Norfolk State then defeated Delaware State (4-0) in a rematch of the opening-round contest to earn a spot in tomorrow's final.

 

The 2015 MEAC Bowling Championship wraps up on tomorrow with the championship final at noon. The championship match will be televised in a tape-delayed format and will air on ESPNU on March 30 at 9 p.m.

 

Admission to the bowling championship is free and open to the public.
