BLACKSBURG, Va. (Dec. 9, 2015)-Sidney Cook came off the bench to score a game-high 14 points and Hannah Young added 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range to lead Virginia Tech to a 73-33 thumping of visiting Morgan State on Wednesday night at Cassell Coliseum.
Vanessa Panousis knocked down three three-pointers to chip in with 10 points and had a game-high six of the Hokies' 18 assists. Regan Magarity and Cook each pulled down a team-leading eight rebounds and Dominique Powell added seven rebounds to go with her eight points, as the Hokies finished with a 53-33 rebounding advantage over Morgan State.
Morgan State (2-8) was led by Braennan Farrar, who scored eight points and Simone Sampson came off the bench to score six and record a game-high two blocked shots. Zuri White hauled in a game-high 10 rebounds for the Lady Bears, who fell to 2-18 all-time against Atlantic Coast Conference competition.
The Hokies (8-1) held the Lady Bears to just two points in the first quarter and held a 33-14 lead at the intermission.
Morgan State returns home to host the University of Maryland Baltimore County on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. at Hill Field House.
