MSU WELCOMES GOLDEY-BEACON FOR HOME-OPENER MATCHUP
The Morgan State Bears continue non-conference action when they welcome the Goldey-Beacon Lightning to Hill Field House on Monday, Nov. 23rd. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast online by the Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN.com). Monday's contest will mark the Bears' first home game since a February 28, 2015 meeting against crosstown rival Coppin State.
 
SCOUTING THE LIGHTNING
• Goldey-Beacon posted an 8-20 overall record, and went 5-14 in CACC play last season. 
Chuck Hammond (Philadelphia, '99) enters his 13th season as the Lightnings' head men's basketball coach. He currently holds a 154-184 and is the all-time leader in wins and winning percentage at GBC. He won the ECAC championship in 2007, along with six straight appearances the CACC Tournament, including three berths in the final (2010-12).
• Goldey-Beacon was picked 5th in the 2015-16 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Preseason Poll. 
• Brooklyn product Shakeem Wilson is currently leading GBC averaging 19.0 points per game and is shooting 57.6 percent from the field. The junior is also adding 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals. Corey Taite (13.8) and Sameen Swint (11.5 ppg) are also adding double-figures for the Lightning.
• Goldey-Beacon is shooting 42 percent from the floor as a team and has connected on 33-of-75 (.440) 3-pointers. 
• The Lightning are coming off an 85-72 loss to Dowling Saturday night at the Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament in Orangeburg, NY. Junior Shakeem Wilson led the Lightning with 13 points (6-11 FG) and freshman Corey Taite also added 13 for GBC.  
 
THE SERIES
• Saturday will mark the first meeting between the teams.
 
AT THE HELM
Todd Bozeman enters his 10th year at the helm as Morgan State men's head coach. The Bears have participated in six of the last nine MEAC Tournament championships, captured back-to-back-MEAC Titles, and made appearances in the NIT and two NCAA Tournaments.
 
BEWARE THE BEAR
Under the direction of Todd Bozeman, Morgan State has collected a couple of memorable wins against big-time opponents. The Bears have recorded historic wins against: Long Island (2009); Manhattan (2009); Arkansas (2009); DePaul (2008); and Maryland (2009).
 
HOME GROWN 
Morgan State has five (5) players from the DMV (D.C., Maryland & Metropolitan-D.C.) area, including two from Baltimore. Senior Donte Pretlow (Dunbar High) and redshirt junior Cliff Cornish (North County) are both from Baltimore. Senior Cedric Blossom (Montrose Christian) is from Columbia and senior Andrew Hampton is from Germantown (Seneca Valley), while freshman Anthony Tate (Takoma Academy) is from Fort Washington.

COMFORTABLE AT HILL FIELD HOUSE
Todd Bozeman has won at least 10 home games in three of his eight seasons in Baltimore. The 2007-08 (12-1) and 2009-10 (11-1) squads finished with just a single loss, while the 2010-11 squad went 10-2. Bozeman has led the Bears to a 71-30 (.693) overall home record at Hill Field House.

THOMAS HAS SOLID WEEK
Junior forward Kyle Thomas shot 7 for 11 from the field and hit a pair of three-pointers to finish with a career-high 17 points at Campbell (Nov. 21) for the Bears' first win of the season. The 6-foot-7 Owings Mills native also led the Bears with seven rebounds, three dimes and blocked two shots assists in 35 minutes of work. Thomas averaged 13.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and two assists during the week.

The Bears will return to the road for non-conference action when they face High Point on Saturday, Nov. 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
