BALTIMORE, Md. (July 19, 2014)-Morgan State head women's tennis coach Sean Holcomb-Jones has announced his 2014-15 Lady Bears' recruiting class. Joining the Morgan State women's tennis program will be Danielle Andrea Thompson, Kayla Price and Riana Roberts.
Thompson joins the Lady Bears from Nassau Bahamas with a career high ITF Junior world ranking of 460. Thompson has been ranked as high as No. 1 in Bahamas in the 18 & under rankings. She has also represented her country in Federation Cup play.
Thompson, who has already been at Morgan State for a semester attending class, will see her first action during the spring season in January 2015.
"We are excited to see Danielle in action in the spring season," said Holcomb-Jones. "She is a great
talent, hard worker and has extensive international tournament experience which has prepared her for success on the college level."
A native of Davidson, N.C., Price joins the Lady Bears currently ranked 157 in the nation on tennisrecruiting.net.
"Kayla will have an immediate impact on our team," said Holcomb-Jones. "She is the diamond in the rough recruit that every coach is looking for. She's a phenomenal athlete who I really think will blossom at the collegiate level."
Roberts, a native of Silver Spring, Md., was ranked as high as 240 in the nation in 2011 and is currently ranked 406 in the nation on tennisrecruiting.net.
"Riana will bring great depth to our lineup this season," said Holcomb-Jones. "We really think Riana can be a solid contributor on our team."
