WASHINGTON - The Morgan State men's tennis team fell to No. 54 ranked George Washington, 7-0, at the GW Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon in the nation's capital.
The Colonials won the doubles point over the Bears to open the match then rolled to consecutive victories in singles play.
The No. 57 duo of Francisco Dias and Julius Tverijonas topped
Evan Ward and
Duk Young-Park, 8-4, in the No. 1 match, and Nikita Fomin and Danil Zelenkov defeated
Dmitriy Borodkin and
Jannick Tash, 8-3, at the No. 2 spot to extend their win streak to four matches.
In the No. 3 slot, Viktor Svensson and Ulrik Thomsen defeated
Joshua Abraham and
Ty Abraham, 8-6.
Dias defeated Young-Park, 6-4, 6-3, in No. 1 singles and Fomin downed Ward, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 2 spot. Zelenkov won his fourth straight match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over
Ty Abraham in the third flight, and Tverijonas defeated
Joshua Abraham in the No. 4
Morgan State (1-8, 1-0 MEAC) return to conference action when they host Maryland Eastern Shore on Sunday, March 23. Play is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
