Tracey Carrington scored a game-high 22 points and sophomores
Dinah Jones tallied a double-double with a career- and game-high 15 rebounds and 12 points, as Morgan State defeated crosstown rival Coppin State, 66-61 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game on Wednesday evening at Hill Field House.

The win ended a season-long 15-game losing skid for the Lady Bears (3-22, 1-11 MEAC) and earned a season split with Coppin State (12-13, 9-4 MEAC), which has now dropped its last two contests.

The victory for Morgan State was a complete team effort, as
Simone Sampson tallied 12 points and
freshman
Ivy Harrington came off the bench to score 11 points. Harrington scored seven of the Lady Bears' final 13 points, including five straight to give Morgan State the lead, as the host Lady Bears closed out the game with a 19-4 run.

Coppin State was led by Kyra Coleman, who finished with 16 points, while Ashle Craig also added 16 points. Larrisa Carter tallied a double-double with a team-high 12 rebounds and 11 points.

Morgan State, which trailed 34-26 at the break, was down 57-47 with 7:42 to play in the game, following two free throws by Carter. The Lady Bears then put together a 15-4 spurt to take a 62-61 lead, capped off by Harrington hitting a free throw to complete a three-point play with 42.5 left to play.

Carrington later knocked down two free throws to extend the lead to 64-61 with 17.5 to go. But the game wasn't in hand, until Morgan State's
Danielle Robinson blocked a three-point attempt from Coleman and Carrington was fouled with six seconds left. Carrington would drain both free throws to secure the win.

The Lady Bears will now look to end two more streaks, as they try to pick up their first road win of the season, as well as their first conference road win in more than a year when they visit Delaware State on Monday, Feb. 24 at Memorial Hall in Dover, Del. The Lady Bears' last MEAC road victory came last season in Memorial Hall when Morgan State defeated the Hornets, 69-67 in overtime (2/18/13).
