BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 10, 2014)-Coppin State's Kyra Coleman set a career high with 31 points to lead the host Eagles to a 76-60 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) victory over crosstown rival Morgan State on Monday evening at the Physical Education Complex.
Coleman, who was coming off a then career-high 30-point performance in Saturday's win at Maryland Eastern Shore, on Monday shot 8-of-16 from the floor and added 14 free throws, including three straight late in the game after being fouled on a three-point attempt for her final points.

The victory extended the Eagles' winning streak to three straight and was their sixth win in their last seven games. Coppin State now leads the all-time series, 36-28.
The youthful Lady Bears (2-21, 0-10 MEAC), who had eight players playing in their first Morgan-Coppin game, were led by their three returnees. Junior guard and Baltimore native,
Tracey Carrington, who entered the game needing 19 points to join the 1,000-point club, finished with a team-high 17 points.
Sophomore forward
Dinah Jones fell shy of a double-double, scoring a career-high 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting and had a team-high nine rebounds, while fellow sophomore forward,

Morgan State would not get any closer than 18 points, until Carrington drained a three-pointer with 1:47 remaining to round out the scoring.
One of the major points this season that Morgan State head coach
Donald Beasley has stressed from his team is driving to the basket and getting to the free throw line. The Lady Bears went to the line just 11 times, connecting on eight of them. Meanwhile Coppin State shot 39 free throws, making 25 of them.
The Lady Bears committed 22 turnovers, which Coppin State turned into 26 points. Coppin State also held a 23-8 advantage in second chance points.
