BALTIMORE, Md. — Morgan State will play its second game in four days when it welcomes the Towson Tigers to Hill Field House on Monday, November 17. The Bears will attempt to bounce back from a 61-48 defeat at Penn State, while the Tigers are coming off a 82-54 loss at Alabama. Tip-off at Hill Field House is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast online by
Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN) with Lamont Germany (play-by-play) calling all the action. There will be live updates throughout the game available on Twitter @MorganStBears.
SCOUTING THE TIGERSTowson welcomed back five veterans, including two starters, from a squad that posted a 25-11 overall record, and finished 13-3 in the CAA. The Tigers enter the season with two veterans starters in guard Four McGlynn and forward Timajh Parker-Rivera. Pat Skerry (Tufts '92) enters his fourth season as the Tigers head men's basketball coach and he has guided Towson to a 44-56 record, and 68-81 in his sixth years of coaching. Three Tigers finished in double-figures in their season-opener at Alabama. Four McGlynn led the Tigers with 15 points (5-10 3FG), Alex Gavrilovic had 14 and John Davis added 10 points with 12 rebounds.
LAST TIME OUTNov. 14, 2014 -- D.J. Newbill scored 17 points on 4-of-10 shooting to help Penn State beat Morgan State 61-48 Friday night in the season opener for both teams. Newbill did most of his damage from the charity stripe where he connected on 7-of-8 free throws and added seven rebounds to go along with three assists. He helped lead the Nittany Lions to a 31-25 halftime advantage. Morgan State struggled shooting the ball, hitting 31 percent for the game and connecting on just 3 of 18 shots from beyond the arc.
Cedric Blossom led Morgan State with 10 points (4-4 FT), six rebounds and two blocked shots.
Blake Bozeman added nine points and
Zech Smith chipped in six points with four boards and two blocks.
WE MEET AGAINThe Morgan State Bears will square off against the Towson for the 23
rd meeting between the two schools. Morgan State holds a 12-10 advantage in the series since the 1967-68 season. Towson defeated the Bears in their last meeting 95-75 at SECU Arena on Nov. 12, 2013. Morgan State has won 3 of the last 5 meetings between the teams.
BEARS SET FOR CANCUN CHALLENGEThe Morgan State men's basketball team will compete in the 2014 Cancun Challenge Tournament, November 25-26 at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya near Cancun, Mexico. The Bears will compete in the Mayan Division along with North Florida, Elon and Liberty. The Riviera Division will include Virginia Teach, Miami (Ohio), Northern Iowa and Northwestern. The tournament begins with eight games played in the United State between November 19-30 with the four teams in the Riviera Division hosting the four teams in the Mayan Division before all eight travel to Cancun to play two games for their respective division championships. All four games of the Riviera Division will be nationally televised live in HD from the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya on CBS Sports Network. The Mayan Division games will be webcast live on CBSsports.com, ULive.

BOZEMAN LOOKS FOR ANOTHER 20-WIN SEASONFor three of the last eight seasons, all as head coach,
Todd Bozeman has guided teams to at least 20 victories. Bozeman set the Morgan State record for consecutive 20-win campaigns in 2007-08 with a 22-11 record and extended it with a 23-12 campaign in 2008-09, followed by a Division I school record 27-11 record in 2009-10. The previous record was back-to-back 20-win seasons under coach Nathaniel Frazier when he guided the Bears to a 20-8 record in 1972-73, followed by 28-5 in 1973-74.

A BLOSSOM ON THE OFFENSIVE GLASSCedric Blossom led the Bears with 82 offensive rebounds (ranked No. 4 in MEAC) last season. As a sophomore, the Greenbelt (Md.) native started in 30 of 31 games and averaged 6.9 ppg, 5.3 rebounds in 23.5 minutes. He had a sensational game at Maryland-Eastern Shore (Feb. 17) where he posted a career-high 20 points and 11 rebounds – it marked the third double-double of his career.
