BALTIMORE, Md. (Jan. 4, 2013)-Howard's Te'Shya Heslip nearly recorded a triple-double, finishing with a team-high 15 points, a game-high 10 assists and seven rebounds, while Sydni Johnson added 15 points to lead the Lady Bison past Howard in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game on Saturday afternoon at Hill Field House.
Cabria Johnson scored 11 points and Jasmine Hill came off the bench to add 10 points, as the Lady Bison won their third straight game and spoiled Morgan State's MEAC home opener. Howard (6-8, 2-0 MEAC) improved to 49-15 overall against Morgan State and has now won the last five meetings against the Lady Bears.

Tracey Carrington scored a game-high 33 points on 12-of-29 shooting and pulled down a game-tying eight rebounds, but it wasn't enough, as Morgan State dropped it third straight game this season. It was the fourth 30-point performance for Carrington this season and in her career.
Simone Sampson added eight points and seven rebounds in the loss.
The Lady Bears (2-10, 0-1 MEAC), who scored the game's first points on a jumper by Carrington, would never lead again, as Howard scored the next seven points. The Lady Bison held a 20-13 lead after a layup by Hill with 8:38 to play in the opening half.
Morgan State used a 12-6 run, capped off by a layup by Carrington to pull within a point at 26-25 with 1:11 remaining, but the guests scored the next four points to close out the half and take a 30-25 halftime lead.
Cabria Johnson knocked down a free throw to complete a three-point play and cap off a 12-7 spurt by the Lady Bison in a little over three-and-a-half minutes to give Howard its largest lead of the game at 61-47 with 6:15 left.
Morgan State nearly pulled off the comeback with a 19-8 run, as
Danielle Forrest connected on a three-pointer with 23 seconds remaining, bringing the Lady Bears within 69-66. But the visiting Lady Bison sealed the win with two free throws by Heslip.
The Lady Bears will return to non-conference action with two home contests against Ivy League foes. Morgan State will first host the Big Red of Cornell on Monday, January 6, before taking on the Quakers of Pennsylvania on Wednesday, January 8. Both games will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. at Hill Field House.
