BALTIMORE, Md. (Aug. 6, 2013)-The Morgan State women's basketball team will make their second trip to New York, when they visit Army on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. at Christl Arena in West Point. The game will be the second consecutive meeting between the two teams, with Army holding a 1-0 series lead.
Behind a game-high 21 points from Army's Anna Simmers and a double-double performance of 16 points and a game-high 15 rebounds by Olivia Schretzman, the Black Knights handed Morgan State a 63-59 loss last season in Baltimore.
The loss was the fourth straight for Morgan State, which was returning to the court for the first time after a 19-day layoff.
Bianca Jarrett finished with 14 points for the Lady Bears and
Chyress Lockhart added 12 points and nine rebounds
The Black Knights' win triggered a five-game winning streak and they would win nine of their next 11 contests. Army would conclude the season with a 22-9 record, including an 11-3 mark in the Patriot League, where it finished the regular season tied for first with rival Navy. The Black Knights would earn a trip to the Women's National Invitational Tournament, where they dropped a 55-46 first round decision at Fordham.
Army is coached by Dave Magarity, who has a mark of 99-80 in six seasons in West Point. Magarity, who is entering his 30
th season of coaching, holds a career coaching record of 412-414.
