Morgan State men's tennis team traveled to the nation's capital to post its third Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory of the season. The Bears held Howard scoreless, 4-0, on Friday afternoon at the Banneker Park Tennis Courts.
 
“This was a good win for our guys today,” MSU coach Sean Holcomb-Jones said. “They just went on the court and took care of business.”
 
Once again, Morgan State was led on the court by Duk Young Park in singles and doubles play. The Silver Spring product recorded a 6-0, 7-5 victory against Spencer Mitchell at number 1 singles and improved his record to 8-8 overall and 3-0 in MEAC singles play.
 
At number 2 singles, freshman Evan Ward picked up a win against Myron Davis, 6-4, 6-0, and freshman Ondre Cargill defeated Bogan Dzakociv 6-3, 6-1 in number 3 singles.
 
Duk Young Park and teammate senior Eric Ward posted an 8-0 shutout victory against Howard's number pair of Spencer Mitchell and Myron Davis. Ondre Cargill and junior Dmitriy Borodkin completed doubles scoring by dropping Nico Sorrell and Nile Kendall 8-1 in number 3 doubles.
 
“This win puts us in the driver's seat to secure the number 1 seed in the north division going into the MEAC championships.”
 
Morgan State will return to the court on Saturday, March 23rd  when they square-off against the Tribe of William & Mary at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
