ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Feb. 3, 2013)-The Morgan State women's tennis team dropped a hard fought 4-3 non-conference loss at Navy on Sunday at the Brigade Sports Complex.
The Lady Bears (1-5) won the first two singles matches with
Ekaterina Iakovleva defeating Sam Droop 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and
Mi'Kola Cooper followed with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Noelle Kaufmann at the No. 2 spot. The Midshipmen would go on to claim the last four singles victories to earn the win.
Morgan State earned the doubles point with Cooper and
Chelsi Russell teaming up to win their No. 1 match against Kaufmann and Snook 9-7, while Iakovleva and
Jasmine Edwards won a No. 2 doubles match 9-7 over Navy's Decquir and Droop.
The Lady Bears return to the courts on Feb. 10 when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on Drexel.
