Bears roar back against High Point, 75-68

Box Score HIGH POINT, N.C. – Junior Justin Black scored 20 points and sophomore Blake Bozeman had 13 to lead the Bears to a 75-68 victory over non-conference opponent High Point on Saturday night before a packed house at the Millis Center.

With the win the Bears improved to 4-1 in ESPN Bracketbuster games since 2009, and snapped the Panthers 7-game winning streak.
 
Tonight was a close and competitive game for Morgan State and it wasn't until the last 8 minutes of the contest that they were able to completely turn the tables on the Panthers.
 
High Point's John Brown scored a pair of baskets to lead the Panthers on an 8-0 run and its largest lead of the night at 57-43 with 9:30 remaining.
 
However, the Bears responded with a surge of its own.
 
Black scored on a layup to give the Bears its first field goal in almost four minutes, it was a basket that ended up sparking an electric 25-7 run. Bozeman caught fire hitting three 3-pointers during the stretch and the Bears took its first lead of the night (65-64) when redshirt-junior Ian Chiles dropped in a lefty hookl with 2:35 to go. 
 
Morgan State scored 46 points in the second half and completed the night by outscoring High Point 32-11.
 
Bozeman not only provided scoring punch for the Bears tonight, but he also led the way on the boards by collecting a career-high 12 rebounds.
 
John Brown led all scorers with 24 points on 10 of 18 shooting for the Panthers.  Allan Cheney chipped in 16 points with nine rebounds.
 
Brown scored 6 of High Point's first 8 points, including a steal that led to a 360 degree dunk to give the Panthers an early 8-1 lead.
 
The Bears had several runs that tied the ballgame five times in the first half, but was unable to gain the lead.
 
The Bears went scoreless for a 5-minute stretch before Black scored on a layup with 2:28 left in the half to trim High Point's lead to 29-25. Chiles hit a hook shot just before the buzzer to cut the Panther's advantage to 34-29 at halftime.

The Bears will return to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play when they host rival Coppin State on Wednesday, Feb. 27th. Tip-off at Hill Field House is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
