PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Justin Black scored 18 points, DeWayne Jackson had 17 points and Morgan State easily handled Maryland-Eastern Shore in an 87-55 rout on Saturday.
It was the most points scored by the Bears since posting 91 points against Coppin State on February 22, 2012. MSU also posted their largest margin of victory since handing Coppin State a 29-point loss last week.
Ian Chiles finished with 12 points and a career-high six blocked shots for the Bears (9-13, 6-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who have won three straight games. Anthony Hubbard had 11 points and Donte Pretlow added 10 points.
Morgan State never trailed in the contest, jumping out to a 27-12 lead when Tauron Bailey scored on a layup with 10:05 left in the first half. The Bears, who shot a season-high 59.7 percent (37 of 62) from the floor in the game, went into halftime with a 19-point advantage.
Morgan State continued its surge in the second half, leading by as many as 33 points.
Troy Snyder scored 14 points for the Hawks (1-20, 1-9), who have lost seven consecutive games. Olatunji Kosile had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bears will continue MEAC play when they travel to Dover to face Delaware State on Feb. 18th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall. The Hornets (11-13, 6-4) will enter the contest coming off a 57-43 home win against Coppin State.
