WEST POINT, N.Y. (Dec. 3, 2013)-The host Army Black Knights jumped out to an 18-4 lead and never looked back en route to a 73-48 victory over visiting Morgan State on Tuesday night in a non-conference game at Christl Arena.

The win marked the sixth straight victory for the Black Knights (6-1) and their second consecutive win over Morgan State in as many seasons. Morgan State (1-4) meanwhile dropped its second consecutive game.

Kelsey Minato scored a game-high 16 points and dished out a game-high seven assists for the Black Knights, who held a 15-2 advantage over Morgan State in assists for the game. Brianna Johnson finished with 13 points and Jen Hazlett scored 11 points. Danielle Failor came off the bench to score 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

The Lady Bears were led by Danielle Robinson, who came off the bench to score 10 points, while Tracey Carrington also finished with a team-high 10 points. Dinah Jones finished with nine points and Simone Sampson totaled nine points on 3-for-4 shooting, pulled down a team-high six rebounds and had a game-high two blocks.

The hosts held a 32-10 lead, before the Lady Bears used an 11-2 spurt over the final 7:21 of the first half to pull within, 34-21 at the intermission.

Morgan State would get no closer, as the Black Knights opened up the second half by scoring the first 12 points in part of a 24-11 run to go up 58-32 with 12:27 to play. Army later got a layup from Failor at the 4:28 mark to match its largest lead of the game at 27 points (71-44) to secure its fifth win at home this season to remain unbeaten at home.

Army held a 46-30 rebounding cushion over Morgan State with Olivia Schretzman grabbing a game-high eight rebounds and Johnson adding seven.

The Lady Bears travel to Providence, R.I. this weekend to take part in the Brown Tournament (Dec. 7-8). Morgan State will face Fairfield in the opening round on Saturday at 4 p.m. and will square up against either the winner of loser of the Brown/Maine contest on Sunday at 2 or 4 p.m.
