PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (October 26, 2013) – Florida A&M men's cross country team repeated as the 2013 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Championship title Saturday morning at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

The FAMU Rattlers won their second consecutive title and fourth overall. Five student-athletes finished among the top 20 for FAMU to earn All-MEAC honors. The Rattlers scored 30 total points and averaged 25:42.24 on the 8K course.

Morgan State finished seventh overall with 203 points. Freshman Lenier Tucker led the way for the Bears by posting a15th place finish (26:58.30) and earned All-MEAC honors.

"Our four freshmen -- Lenier Tucker, Eric Brown, Onyx Johnson and Evan Johnson ran competitively and they all had personal bests at this year's championship," said MSU head coach Neville Hodge.

"I hope they will use this experience to help them prepare for the next cross country season. There were some missed opportunities on our part due to injury by our number one cross country runner Christian Smooth. Overall we did a good job based on the make-up of our athletes."

Florida A&M's Elias Chesire finished first and earned the Outstanding Performer honors with a time of 25:04.00.

Wendell Angel, also of FAMU, earned Men's Cross Country Outstanding Coaching honors for the second consecutive year.

In team results, Howard placed second with 68 points. North Carolina A&T (80), Norfolk State (94) and Maryland Eastern Shore (138) rounded out the top-five finishes.
