NORFOLK, Va., May 2, 2012-The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced the 2012 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic selections, honoring 131 student-athletes, from the conference's 13 institutions who achieved academic success during the 2011-12 academic school year.
Morgan State had a total of nine (three men and six women) honorees.
MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year are eligible for All-Academic accolades.
“I applaud our men's and women's outdoor track and field student-athletes who have maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average during the academic school year,” said Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas. “I would also like to congratulate the coaches and academic support staff for their contributions to the success of these stellar student-athletes.”

Christian Smooth and
Emmanuel Stewart of the men's team and
Mary Chepkoech,
Sharita Moore,
Tyshia Oliver,
Kamice Smalls,
Ekundayo Sogbesan and
Britney Wattley of the Lady Bears.
