BALTIMORE, Md. -- Aric Brooks scored a career-high 19 points and Justin Black 17 as Morgan State pulled away late for a 91-80 victory over Coppin State on Wednesday night after squandering a 21-point first-half lead.
 
After Coppin State took its last lead of the game, 66-65 on a 3-pointer by Logan Wiens with 10:22 remaining, the Bears (7-18, 4-9 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) took control with a 12-3 run that put them ahead 77-69 with 5:59 left.
 
Freshman guard Jeremy Canty finished the run with two 3-pointers and had a season-high 12 points overall.

"We fought through so much adversity this year," MSU coach Todd Bozeman said. "I talked about it all year with them. It's not just the winning and losing, but the life experiences they are going through. I'm happy for them, and I got a little emotional. This was a team effort, what I've been preaching all year."
 
Morgan State led 38-17 with 8:38 to play in the first half, but the Eagles (13-14, 8-6) finished the half strong, taking a 46-45 lead on a 3-pointer by Michael Harper as time ran out.
 
Ian Chiles added 12 points and Kevin Thompson had 11 rebounds for Morgan State. 

The Bears finished the game by shooting 58 percent (33-56) from the field, and outscored the Eagles in the paint by a 44-26 margin.
 
Tony Gallo scored 21 points and Harper and Akeem Ellis scored 14 each for Coppin State.

MSU will travel to Princess Anne (Md) to face MD-Eastern Shore on Saturday, Feb. 25. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. The Hawks defeated MSU 68-56 in their first matchup at Hill Field House on February 11, 2012.

Bear Notes
MSU's 91 points against the Eagles were the most points the Bears have scored this season, and also the most points scored by the Bears since defeating Florida A&M 94-68 on Feb. 7, 2010.

MSU scored 30 points off of turnovers and outscored Coppin State bench by a 42-9 margin
