Towson vs. Morgan State Notes

BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 12, 2012)-Fresh off its 72-61 season opening victory over crosstown rival UMBC on Friday, the Lady Bears will travel to Towson to take on the Tigers in another crosstown non-conference match up on Tuesday evening. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. at the Towson Center.

This will be the 24th meeting between the two programs with Towson holding a 14-9 lead in the series. The two programs last met during the 2003-04 season with the Tigers claiming a 66-47 win.

Morgan State senior transfer Bianca Jarrett scored a team-high 14 points in her Morgan debut and sophomore guard Tracey Carrington added 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds in the win over UMBC. The win, which ended a six-game losing skid to the Retrievers, also marked the 100th career victory at Morgan State for head coach Donald Beasley, who has an overall record of 100-113 and ranks second all-time in wins at Morgan State.

Towson (1-0) also enters the contest coming off a win in its season opener. The Tigers defeated Manhattan, 63-60 in overtime on Saturday, behind a three-pointer by Ciara Webb with three second left. Tanisha McTiller led the Tigers with 15 points, while Nyree Williams recorded a double-double with 13 points and a career-high 20 rebounds.

Tuesday's contest will be the final home opener at the Towson Center for the Tigers, who next season will move into the new Tiger Arena.

Morgan State (1-0) has not started the season with back-to-back wins since the 2008-09 campaign when it started 3-0.
