MEAC Announces 2012 Cross Country All-Academic Honorees

NORFOLK, Va. (October 25, 2012)–The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced today the 2012 Men's and Women's Cross Country All-Academic honorees, recognizing 92 student-athletes, from the conference's 13 member institutions who achieved academic success during the 2011-12 school year.
 
The MEAC recognizes student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, including sophomores to seniors, as well as transfer student-athletes, who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year.
 
"I commend the men's and women's cross country student-athletes who have maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average during the 2011-12 academic school year," said Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas. "In addition to recognizing the student-athletes accomplishments, I also applaud the athletic academic support staff and personnel and coaching staffs who contributed to the academic triumphs of these student-athletes. Our institutions, coaches and support staffs are committed to the academic success of our student-athletes.”
 
Morgan State had six total athletes, four from the women's team and two on the men's side. Those athletes were: Mary Chepkoech, Ekundayo Sogbesan, Monae Waller, Britney Wattley, Brandon Hairston and Christian Smooth.
