BALTIMORE, Md. -- Adrian Powell made a layup with 15 seconds left and North Carolina A&T held on to beat Morgan State 62-61 Saturday.
Morgan State (4-12, 2-3) then missed two potential game-winners in the final 14 seconds as
Blake Bozeman came up short on a layup and
Ian Chiles on a jumper with 2 seconds remaining.
The last time MSU was defeated by the Aggies at Hill Field House was on February 20, 2006 when A&T pulled out a 56-52 victory.
The Aggies (8-12, 3-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) forced 19 turnovers by the Bears, who had their head coach on the sidelines for the first time in four games.
Todd Bozeman had been suspended for three games following the Bears' win at South Carolina State on Jan. 7.
Morgan State led 48-40 with 10:09 left and turned it over three times as the Aggies went on a 13-4 run over the next 5:32.
Powell and Marc Hill finished with 11 points each for NC A&T.
DeWayne Jackson led the Bears with 20 points (7-15 FG) and had seven rebounds.
Ian Chiles, the only other Bear to score in double-figures, added 13 points, seven boards and four blocked shots.
MSU used a 17-2 run to build a 24-11 lead while the Aggies went on a 7-minute scoring drought midway through the first half. But the Aggies stayed within reach by hitting several free throws and finished with a 6-2 spurt to help trim the Bears lead to 33-25 at halftime.
