BALTIMORE, Md. -- Kyle O'Quinn scored 25 points as Norfolk State overcame a 17-point second-half deficit and rallied to edge Morgan State 90-89 in double-overtime Saturday.

"We've been battling. This is the kind of game we've been having all season," interim coach Kevin McClain said. "That kind of game we didn't need. We definitely needed a win."

Norfolk State (13-5, 5-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) remained atop the MEAC despite a career-high 33 points by Dewayne Jackson. Twenty came in the first half as Morgan State (3-11, 1-2) led 43-36 at halftime, later by as many as 17 points.
 
But Norfolk State rallied to tie the game at 74-all with 21 seconds left on the first of three foul shots by O'Quinn. Two more put the Spartans ahead at 76-74, but Aric Brooks' two foul shots forced overtime.
 
Marcus Tamares hit three free throws to give Norfork State an 84-81 lead, but Brooks' three foul shots forced a second overtime.
 
Ian Chiles scored to give Morgan State its last lead, 89-88. Tamares' jumper with 1:08 left won, the Bears missing three shots in the last 27 seconds.
 
MSU will host the Hampton Pirates on Monday night in an ESPNU televised contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hill Field House.

Game Note
Junior forward DeWayne Jackson eclipsed the 1,000 point mark for his career as a result of his 33 points ... he currently has 1,006 points ... Jackson became the 21st member of the 1,000-point club at MSU.
