The Opening Tip
Morgan State, the 2010 MEAC champions, will face Florida A&M on Saturday, Feb. at 6 p.m. at the Al Lawson Center in Tallahassee, Fla. MSU 10-9 will attempt to improve upon a 68-66 win against N.C. A&T ... Florida A&M will attempt to avoid a 3-game losing streak when they take on the reigning MEAC champs ... The Rattlers were blown out by South Carolina State 90-75 in Orangeburg, S.C. ... With the loss Florida A&M dropped to 7-14 overall and 2-6 in the MEAC.

Series History?
Saturday's game will be the 50th meeting between Morgan State and Florida A&M in men's basketball … Morgan State has won three of the last four contests against the Rattlers, including the last three straight ... Florida A&M holds a 32-16 all-time record against MSU since the 1987-88 season ... The last time the Rattlers defeated Morgan State was during the 2008-09 season when they dropped the Bears 63-58 in Tallahassee.

The Last Time Out
BALTIMORE, Md. -- DeWayne Jackson scored 18 points, including the game-winning free throws with 15.5 seconds left, as Morgan State edged North Carolina A&T 68-66 Monday night. The Bears also got a season-high 15 points from Larry Bastfield and 10 apiece from Ameer Ali and Aric Brooks.

Florida A&M's Last Game
DURHAM, N.C. - Florida A&M missed a last- second, putback layup that would have forced overtime as North Carolina Central withstood a second-half rally by the visiting Rattlers and held on for a 61-59 victory inside McDougald- McLendon Gymnasium on Saturday.

Looking Ahead at the Schedule
Following their matchup with Rattlers, the Bears will have two days to prepare for the MEAC leading Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman on Monday, February 7 in Daytona Beach, the game will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. … Last year, Bethune-Cookman led by a point with under a minute left to play when Troy Smith was fouled on a loose ball rebound ... The senior stepped to the line with 37 seconds left and knocked down a pair of free throws to give the Bears a 48-47 lead .... The free throws turned out to be the final points of the ballgame.

Home vs. Road:
The Bears are scoring about the same no matter where they play this season, averaging 71 points at home and 68 points on the road per game. The big difference is the scoring of their opponents, which are averaging 67.8 points at Hill Field House and 66.9 points per game on their respective home courts.

Closing In On Two G's
Morgan State forward Kevin Thompson is on his way to a remarkable accomplishment as he is well on his way to recording 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in his career. The junior has recorded 1,019 points and 848 rebounds in his career.

Numbers Game
Against UMES, MSU scored 40 points inside the paint and scored 24 points off 19 turnovers.

Junior point guard Larry Bastfield has scored in double-figures during the Bears' last two contests, including a season-high 15 points and shot 4-of-7 from beyond the arc against N.C. A&T on Jan. 31. ... He also dished out a game-high six assists.

In the loss at Delaware State, Kevin Thompson completed the game with six points and a season- low two rebounds, while DeWayne Jackson, the Bears' leading scorer (16.6 ppg), was limited to seven points on 2-of-7 shooting.

The Bears had four players score in double- figures during their win against N.C. A&T on Jan. 31 ... DeWayne Jackson (18), Larry Bastfield (15), Aric Brooks (10) and Ameer Ali (10).

Kevin Thompson has led the Bears in rebounding 61 times in his career and has accounted for 848 rebounds ... he has also recorded eight double- doubles (points & rebounds) in 19 games played so far this season.

Morgan State completed the 2009-10 season as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champs, it marked the Bears second consecutive MEAC Title and they also captured their third consecutive regular season title.
