FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Feb. 14, 2011) – The Morgan State men's indoor track team traveled across the country to the University of Arkansas for the Tyson's Invitational meet expecting some great results. Several members of the men's team participated in a few events and did well at the meet, held at the Randal Tyson Center.
Morgan State's Trey Charles and Carbinere Whyte both ran season-best times. Charles, who placed 36th, finished in a time of 6.90, while Whyte placed 50th in a time of 6.97.
Jordan Higgs stepped up once again in the 200 meter dash, finishing in a season-best time of 22.21, which also qualified him for the IC4A Championships. Higgs placed 54th in the event, while teammate Carbinere Whyte came in 66th in a time of 22.69.
In the 400 meter dash Charles did well and placed 35th in a time of 48.56, while Higgs (48.98) placed 43rd and Calvin Dascent finished 53rd in a time of 49.26.
The 1600 meter relay team did outstanding, running a season-best time of 3:13.30, while placing 10th overall.
The Morgan State Bears next meet will the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship, which will take place February 17-19, 2011 at the Sports & Learning Complex in Landover, Maryland.
