BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Morgan State men's basketball team moved up a few positions in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll.

The squad collected 227 points Monday, which fell ahead of Northeastern at No. 19 (224 points) and behind 17th-ranked North Texas (237 points). The No.1 position is currently held by Butler (773 points).
The Bears, who have been ranked for six straight weeks, have been ranked as high as No. 13 so far this season, its highest ranking ever in the Mid-Major Top 25 poll.
The Bears made their first appearance in the Mid-Major Top 25 poll ranked No. 23 on Jan. 26 of this season, marking their first since finishing the 2008-09 season ranked No. 23. During last year's historic run the Bears captured the MEAC Championship and concluded their historic season as the No. 15 seed during the school's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Senior guard Reggie Holmes had the best of farewells at Hill Field House last Thursday night. Playing before a packed house in his final home game, Holmes broke Marvin Webster's all-time scoring record at Morgan with a 36-point effort and a 74-54 victory over Coppin State.
No. 1 seeded Morgan State returns to action Thursday (March 10) in the MEAC Tournament, when they take on the winner of tonight's No. 8 Howard vs. No. 9 North Carolina A&T matchup. The Bears' tip-off will take place at 7 p.m. at Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The game will be broadcast by WEAA, 88.9 FM.
