MEAC to Host 2010 Indoor Track & Field Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Feb. 11, 2010)-The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will host its 2010 men's and women's indoor track and field championships, Friday-Saturday, February 12-13, at the Prince George Sports & Learning Complex in Landover, Md.

 

Due to inclement weather, the track and field championships, which were originally scheduled to begin today, will now commence on Friday morning.

 

The championships will begin with the men's heptathlon and women's shot put competition at 9 a.m. Other field events on Friday's slate include the men's and women's long jump, the men's pole vault final, and the women's high jump. The afternoon continues with the men's and women's 800m run, 60m hurdles, 60m dash, 200m dash, and 400m dash. The men's and women's distance medley relay will close out the day's events.

 

Competition concludes on Saturday at 9 a.m., with the women's pole vault and conclusion of the women's pentathlon events. Early afternoon field events include the men's heptathlon, shot put, high jump and triple jump events.  A complete schedule of events is available on www.meacsports.com.

 

Saturday, February 13 is designated as Youth Day and Adopt A Team Day. Fans 18 and under are admitted free with valid student ID. Fans are also encouraged to select one of the participating MEAC institutions and show their support by wearing the team's colors.

 

Admission for the indoor tack and field championships is $5 for adults and $3 for students, children, and senior citizens. Tickets are available at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex the day of the event.
