BALTIMORE, Md. -- Troy Smith hit a layup with 4 seconds remaining pushed Morgan State to an 88-87 win over Norfolk State in double overtime on Saturday at Hill Field House.

Smith finished with 19 points for the Bears (22-9, 13-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), while Reggie Holmes led the way with 25 points.

Kevin Thompson collected his 19th double-double of the season by finishing with 20 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

Trailing by two at the end of regulation, Smith made two free throws with 21 seconds left to tie the game at 70 and force the first overtime.

Norfolk State (9-18, 7-7) took a three-point lead, but Morgan State's Joe Davis nailed a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left in overtime to tie the game at 79 and force the second extra period.

Aleek Pauline's layup put the Spartans ahead in the second overtime with nine seconds left, but Smith responded with the game-winning basket.

Michael Deloach and Kyle O'Quinn each scored 23 points to lead Norfolk State.
