Morgan State, the 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champs, will tip-off the 2010-11 season against No. 21 Loyola Marymount on Friday, November 12 in Los Angeles, Calif. Tip time will be at 7 p.m. PT.

Friday's game will be the first meeting between Morgan State and Loyola Marymount in men's basketball.

? Morgan State completed the 2009-10 season as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champs, it marked the Bears second consecutive MEAC Title and they also captured their third consecutive regular season title.
? The No. 15 seeded Bears lost to the No. 2 seed West Virginia 77-50 at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. The game was broadcast by CBS Sports and it was the Bears second consecutive appearance in the 'Big Dance'.
? Morgan State had a 7-game winning streak snapped as a result of the loss to the Mountaineers ... MSU culminated the season by winning 19 of their last 22 games.
? MSU junior Kevin Thompson is set to lead the Bears this season...the 6-foot-9 forward was the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and was the league's most dominant post player during the 2009-10 season ... As a sophomore, Thompson averaged 12.7 points per game, 11.9 rebounds (4th best in the nation) and completed the season with 22 double-doubles (pts & rebs).
? Todd Bozeman made his fifth NCAA appearance in eight years as a Division I coach ... his record in the Tournament is 2-5.
? MSU captured its third consecutive regular season title and its second consecutive conference title.
? MSU has not won back-to-back season openers since the 1979-80 and 1980-81 seasons.
BEAR SCHEDULE
? The Bears once again have an ambitious nonconference schedule this season.
? MSU's non-conference schedule sends the Bears to Loyola Marymount, Providence, Syracuse, Louisville, and Baylor.
? This year's home-opener at Hill Field House will be against Loyola, and they will also host UMBC and Robert Morris.
THOMPSON'S HOSPITALITY
? Morgan State sophomore forward Kevin Thompson was named to the Freshmen Mid-Major All-America team by Collegeinsider.com at the end of the last season. Thompson became the first Bear ever to be selected to the team.
? Thompson was a key contributor as a redshirt freshman and helped the Bears capture their first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship in three decades and earned the program's second consecutive postseason appearance and the first-ever NCAA tournament.
? The Walbrook High product averaged 8.9 points per game and was one of the top rebounders in the MEAC averaging 7.1 boards per game.
? He recorded 15 double-figure games and posted 7 double-doubles (points & rebounds) on the season and was selected to the 2009 MEAC Rookie Team.
