BALTIMORE, Md. – Morgan State's Reggie Holmes was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, while teammate Kevin Thompson earned Defensive of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Dadrien Collins of Howard earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Holmes averaged 25.0 points in two conference wins last week for the league-leading MSU Bears. Against Winston-Salem State Holmes recorded 22 points, shooting 6-of-13 from the field and knocked down 9-of-11 from the charity stripe. He followed that performance with 28 points against Delaware State, connecting on 4-of-9 shots from field. Holmes also registered 18-of-20 free-throws against the Hornets, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out one assist. He has been selected four times this season as the MEAC Player of the Week.
Holmes, MSU's 4th all-time leading scorer, will enter this week's contest averaging 22.8 points per game, including four 30 point outings thru 20 games. He currently leads the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in scoring and ranks in the NCAA Top 10 (ranked No. 6). Thompson recorded his 12th double-double of the season with 10 boards along with 12 points against Winston-Salem State. He also posted three blocks and one steal in the win. In addition, Thompson grabbed seven rebounds in the Bears win over Delaware State. Thompson has earned the MEAC's Defensive Player of the Week honor six times this season including the last three weeks.
Thompson, a former Walbrook HS standout, is one of the steadiest post players in the country and has recorded 18 career double-doubles and currently ranks 4th in the nation averaging 12.8 boards per game.
Morgan State (13-7, 5-0), the 2009 MEAC champion, will host MD-Eastern Shore (5-13, 3-2) on Monday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Hill Field House. The game will mark the 76th match-up between the teams. MSU leads the series 45-30.

DeWayne Jackson (MSU) averaged 15.0 points and 5.0 rebounds off the bench to aid the Bears to a 2-0 conference finish last week.
Albert Abrahams (B-CU) recorded a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 70-percent from the field, in the Wildcats win over Maryland E. Shore.
Sean Berry (UMES) shot 4-of-5 from the field and registered 13 points and eight rebounds against Bethune-Cookman.
Tim Burns (UMES) led all scorers with 20 points,connecting on 7-of-9 shots, including 2-of-3 from 3-point land, in the Hawks win over Coppin State.
Thomas Coleman (NCAT) collected a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds against the Hampton Pirates.
Jason Flagler (SCSU) averaged 23.0 points and 8.0 rebounds, falling one rebound shy of back-to-back doubles, to lead the Bulldogs to a 1-1 finish last week.
Rasheem Jenkins (FAMU) averaged 15.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists for the Rattlers last week.
Frisco Sandidge (DSU) scored 24 points, shooting 9-of-15 from the field, including 6-of-6 from the free-throw line against the MSU Bears.
Calvin Thompson (How) shot 46-percent from the field and averaged 18.5 points and 5.0 rebounds for the Bison last week.
Neal Pitt (UMES) recorded a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds with two steals and one assist in the Hawks win over Coppin State.
