The Opening Tip
Morgan State, the 2009 MEAC champion, will face its 5th conference test of the season when they host Delaware State (8-7, 3-1 MEAC) on Saturday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Hill Field House. The game will mark the 93rd meeting between the teams.
The Last Time Out
Morgan States' (12-7, 4-0 MEAC) play in the second half fueled the Bears to an 84-65 victory over Winston-Salem State on Monday night at the C.E. Gaines Center. Reggie Holmes, the nation's No. 6 leadingscorer (22.5 ppg), scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half for the Bears. Holmes shot 6-of-13 from the field and was 9-of-11 from the stripe.
Delaware State's Last Game
Tallahassee, Fla. (Jan. 18, 2010) --- DelawareState made the most of its first visit to Florida A&M's new Al Lawson Center,using a late surge to defeat the Rattlers 64-57 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match-up Monday evening. The Hornets have won their last four games, the team's longest streak since winning nine in a rowduring the 2006-07 season. DSU is now 8-7 overall and 3-1 in the MEAC. Florida A&M has lost three straight to fall to 3-14 and 1-4.
Series History
Saturday's game will be the 93rd meeting between Morgan State and Delaware Statein men's basketball. The Bears hold a 44-38 advantage in the series. The Bears have won the last five meetings against Delaware State. The last time the Hornets defeated Morgan State was during the 2007 MEAC Basketball Tournament Semi-Finals when they dropped the Bears 56-53 in overtime in Raleigh, N.C.

Morgan State senior guard Reggie Holmes will enter Saturday's contest averaging 22.5 points per game, including three 30 point outings thru 19 games. He currently leads the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in scoring and ranks in the NCAA Top 10 (ranked No. 6).
Thompson's Hospitality
Morgan State forward Kevin Thompson was named to the Freshmen Mid-Major All-America team by Collegeinsider.com at the end of the last season. Thompson has led Morgan State in rebounding 17 times in 2009-10 and 33 times in his career. Thompson is among the nation's leaders in rebounds ... he ranks No. 2 (12.7 rpg) and has posted 25 rebounds in a game which is an NCAA single-game high for this season.

Delaware State would move into a tie for first place in the MEAC with a victory against the Bears.

The Bears shot a season-high 54.5% (30-55 FG) from the field and outscored Winston-Salem State in the paint 42-to-32.

Thru the last three games, Morgan State has outscored its opponents in the paint 152-to-108 and held an 163-143 advantage on the glass.

Freshman DeWayne Jackson is MSU's 3rd leading scorer by averaging 9.4 ppg thru 19 games...he's been selected twice as the MEAC Rookie of the Week.
Sophomore Ameer Ali was inserted into the starting lineup for the first time this season when the Bears played at Baylor ... Ali posted 12 points and five rebounds in the first half in the Bears' win at Howard.
Junior point guard Danny Smith currently ranks among the MEAC leaders in assists ranked 3rd (4 apg) and finished with 10 assists against Towson on Dec.22.
Morgan State's Reggie Holmes has been named the MEAC Player of the Week three so far this season and Kevin Thompson has also been named five times as Defensive Player of the Week and once as the MEAC Player of the Week.
