Lady Bears Place 7th in Baltimore Metro Meet

HUNT VALLEY, Md. (Sept. 4, 2009)-The Morgan State women's cross country team opened up the season at the annual Baltimore Metro Meet on Friday afternoon hosted by Towson at Oregon Ridge Park and finished seventh with a total of 162 points.

Morgan State freshman newcomer Jasmine Savage was the Lady Bears' top finisher, placing 33rd in a time of 21:38.17, while junior Tanisha Kendrick finished 37th in a time of 22:05.89. Savage's time was the seventh fastest in Morgan State history on the Oregon Ridge Park course, while Kendrick's mark was the 11th fastest time by a Lady Bear.

 

Led by senior Laura Paulsen, Johns Hopkins earned seven of the top eight individual spots, including the top three to capture its second straight meet title. The Blue Jays scored 17 points, while host Towson placed second with 46 points. Paulsen, who won her fourth consecutive Baltimore Metro Meet individual championship, finished with a time of 18:27.15.

 

The Lady Bears return to action for a 'rerun' as they race the same course next Saturday, Sept. 12, when they compete in the Towson Invitational at 10 a.m.
