PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (Sept. 19, 2009)-Freshmen Kipchirchor Daniel Mutai ran a time of 25:37.56 to place sixth overall to help Morgan State (202 points) to a ninth-place finish during Saturday's Cappy Anderson Invitational 8k race, hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES).
Mutai was the only athlete among the participating Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) institutions to finish in the top 10.
Princeton's Donn Cabral captured the individual title in a time of 25:13.49 to lead the Tigers (29 points) to the team title out of 11 teams. Saint Joseph's (38 points) took second, while Pittsburg finished third with 84 points. Fellow MEAC members Hampton (169 points), Howard (183) and host UMES (191 points), placed sixth-eighth, respectively.
The Bears return to action next month on Saturday, October 3, when they take part in the Delaware State Invitational in Dover, Del. at 4 p.m.
