Morgan State placed seventh at the Towson Invitational on Saturday.
TOWSON, Md. (Sept. 12, 2009)-Freshmen Ashlee Nievess (21:30.31) and Jasmine Savage (21:43.59) placed 17th and 19th, respectively, to help the Lady Bears (159 points) to a seventh-place finish during Saturday morning's Towson Invitational 5k race held at Oregon Ridge Park.
Nievess, whose time was a season-best, improved on her time of 22:46.29 during last week's Baltimore Metro Meet, which was held on the same course.
Led by Liya Kasimova, who captured the individual title in a time of 19:14.49, host Towson claimed the team title with 15 points. Salisbury (69 points) came in second, while fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) members Delaware State and Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) were tied for third with 105 points.
The Lady Bears return to action on Saturday, Sept. 19, when they travel to Princess Anne, Md. for the Cappy Anderson Meet, hosted by UMES at 10 a.m.
