Men’s Tennis Falls to George Mason, 4-3

Women's Tennis: George Mason 7, Morgan State 0

FAIRFAX, Va. (April 7, 2009)—The Morgan State men's tennis team lost a tough non-conference match on Tuesday afternoon at George Mason, 4-3.

The Bears (5-7) earned the doubles point, by winning two of the three doubles matches. After Morgan State dropped the first doubles match, seniors Juan Ortiz and Mauricio Ortiz evened the score, as they paired together to win their No. 2 doubles match, 8-7 over the Patriots' team of Jordan Lipstock and Matt Vaughn. Aaron Benjamin and Samuel Matthew then claimed an 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles.


George Mason won the first two singles matches, before Dmitry Chekhlatyy earned a 7-5, 6-2 victory over George Mason's Dan Schneider at No. 3 singles. The Patriots' then would take two of the final three singles matches to earn the 4-3 victory over Morgan State.


The Bears return to action on Saturday, April 11, when they travel to Brooklyn, N.Y., to take on St. Francis-N.Y. in a non-conference match at noon.
