DOVER, Del. (March 29, 2008)-On a frigidly cold and windy day, the Morgan men’s track and field team competed at the Delaware State Invitational and took runner-up honors in a scored meet against Delaware State, Coppin State, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Lincoln, and Wesley.

Taking top billing for the Bears was James Blocker, who won the high jump, and took third in the long jump with a personal best, and MEAC qualifying distance of 7.09 meters.

Morgan’s 4x400 relay team of Donald Sanford, Cashmere O’Neal, Akido Noel, and Reggie Carter dominated the field in a qualifying time of 3:13.64, while Sam Henry outdistanced himself from the pack to win the men’s 5000 meter run. Andrew Simpson and Noel swept the hurdle events as Simpson won the 110 and Noel won the 400 hurdle race.

The men now prepare for the Duke Invitational before they head to Arizona for the Sun Angel Classic. They will return to Baltimore to defend their home track on April 18-19 in the annual Legacy track meet. The Bears will also host the MEAC championships May 1-3. Bears fans can come out and cheer on their Bears as they continue to qualify for their quest to the NCAA championships.
