BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 26, 2008)-Morgan State track and field head coach Neville G. Hodge has announced the signing of Jamia Robinson for the upcoming 2008-2009 season.
Robinson a transfer student from Central Arizona was the Texas 4A state runner up in the 400 meter dash. She signed with University of North Texas out of high school, but transferred to Central Arizona. Robinson has personal best times of 53.90 (400), 24.34 (200) and 2:16 (800). Robinson is expected to be a top 400 runner in junior college this year.
Coach Hodge had this to say, “Jamia will give us more depth and quality in an event that is a premier area in the conference. There are several schools with superb talent in this area, and we have got to stay current and competitive here. The addition of Jamia will also bring some leadership, and experience to a fairly young squad. She has great range, and is a superb competitor. We feel really fortunate to have signed Jamia before the Junior college outdoor season gets under way as we feel she will run fast outside. If we would have waited we might not have had the opportunity to sign her as it would have been extremely competitive on the recruiting trail. Coach Jones has had several opportunities to assess her talent, and has done an excellent job aggressively recruiting and staying after her. We look forward to adding her to the team in the fall and would like to welcome her to our family.”
